I’m an Internet entrepreneur from Grand Rapids, MI. I started my first company in 2002, during my last year of undergrad, and have since been involved in a handful of startups and small businesses. The bulk of my time is currently spent as co-founder and CTO of ProTrainings, an online training platform focusing mostly on mandatory compliance training.
My areas of interest in business and technology are very broad as a technical person who is also deeply involved in the marketing and overall running of the business. My web development stack of choice is Ruby on Rails, and lately I have been educating myself on responsive design and mobile development as we continue to attract more and more mobile users. While I still spend some time working on code, much of my time is focused on search engine marketing, re-marketing, and social media. On the business side, I am a proponent of the Lean Startup movement, bootstrapping companies, and startup culture in general. Along with two other colleagues, I co-host the business design podcast to discuss issues around startups and entrepreneurship.
On the personal side, I am married and have one daughter. I love to travel and try to take advantage of the flexibility of running a location independent business by spending a month out of the year living in another state/country with my family and working remotely.
